2023-05-14	End on season	The adult club met for the last time this season on Wednesday 10th May 2023. There may be further online meetings on Tuesdays and informal meetings on Wednesdays in a pub until the new season starts in September.
2023-05-10	Minor Club Champion	Congratulations to Philip Brooks, our new Minor Club Champion.
2023-05-03	Club Champion	Congratulations to Ken Neat on winning the Club Championship and to runner-up Fedir Dyshliuk, just half a point behind Ken.
2022-09-26	Darlington v Durham Pre-season Friendly	Durham only managed to field a small 6-player team for the annual pre-season friendly, this year at Darlington. There were some interesting games and the match ended up tied at 6-6. 2022-07-11	National Youth Championships	Junior Club member, Daniel Sewart, competed in the EJCOA National Youth Championship Under-10 finals at Nottingham, scoring a very creditable 1½/5 and gaining much useful experience.
2022-05-25	Minor Club Champion	Congratulations to Edwin Smith on winning the 2021/22 Minor Club Championship with a score of 5½/6.
2021-02-13	Maurice Bell obituary	Durham Chess Club is sad to announce that our much valued member Maurice Bell has passed away. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ken Neat has written an obituary which is available on the home page.
2020-03-25	Club Championships	Round 6 has been cancelled so the Club Championships are completed for 2019/20. Congratulations to Thomas Eggleston for retaining the title with 5/5, and to Edwin Smith the new Minor Champion with 4/5.
2020-03-23	Virtual Chess Club	As we cannot meet due to COVDI-19, Robin Nandi is organising a virtual chess club. Look out for the links in Ken's emails and newsletters.
2020-03-16	COVID-19 -- Club Closed	With immediate effect from Wednesday 18th March the adult and junior clubs are closed indefinitely due to the threat from COVID-19. All fixtures in the leagues and club championship are cancelled. We hope everyone stays well and we can reopen the clubs in September.
2019-04-07	Club Championship Playoff	Thomas Eggleston and Ken Neat have tied for the Club championship so will have a playoff to determine this season's Club Champion.
2019-04-07	Minor Club Champion	Steve Jefferies has won the 2018/19 Season Minor Club Championship, overtaking Philip Brooks in the last round.
